These facilities use impact crushing, air classification, screening, metal separation, vacuum extraction, and dust control to remove contaminants such as paper, plastic and metal, and then crush the glass. About two dozen plants also have optical sorting and ceramic detection equipment. These are identified with an asterisk (*).
