Glass Finish Bulletin No. 463

SUBJECT: Glass Finish No. 920, Drawing No. 920-06
“Glass Finish For Child Resistant Closures”
Approved for Publication: November 12, 2003

Following review of this Glass Finish Drawing by the Committee on Design and Specifications, the members determined that, consistent with current practices, the following change should be incorporated in the drawing:

  1. Various sizes were added and updated.
  2. The names for Owens-Illinois, Penn-Wheeling, and Rexam were updated.
  3. Information for Mold-Rite was added.
  4. The finish detail was revised and includes the closure cross section.
  5. All notes were added.

Glass Packaging Institute drawings are intended to provide a voluntary basis for achieving compatibility and interchangeability between manufacturers and users of glass containers and closures. The actual container and closure designs used by manufacturers may differ from these standardized specifications however, and it is the user’s responsibility to make the final determination as to design and compatibility. It is understood that every company remains free to manufacture any container with any finish of its choosing, whether or not GPI has approved, disapproved or not considered a drawing for the particular design. .
