Following review of this Glass Finish Drawing by the Committee on Design and Specifications, the members determined that, consistent with current practices, the following change should be incorporated in the drawing:
- The drawing was redrawn into CAD format.
- The charts were rearranged following drawing C-102.
- Capacity Tolerances were added for 22, 24, and 40 fl. oz. sizes.
- Note 5 referencing a metric drawing was removed.
- Note 5 stating “Finish and Container shown are for illustration purposes only.” was added.
Glass Packaging Institute drawings are intended to provide a voluntary basis for achieving compatibility and interchangeability between manufacturers and users of glass containers and closures. The actual container and closure designs used by manufacturers may differ from these standardized specifications however, and it is the user’s responsibility to make the final determination as to design and compatibility. It is understood that every company remains free to manufacture any container with any finish of its choosing, whether or not GPI has approved, disapproved or not considered a drawing for the particular design.
