Recycle Glass Month Frequently Asked Questions

What is Recycle Glass Week?

The Glass Packaging Institute’s (GPI) Recycle Glass Month (September 2011) is an awareness event aimed to educate consumers about the environmental benefits of glass bottle recycling and encourage participation in recycling glass to help save energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and facilitate the industry’s nationwide goal of using 50 percent recycled content in the manufacture of new glass bottles and jars by the end of 2013.

What activities are planned for Recycle Glass Month 2011?

GPI member companies and recyclers will hold nationwide glass container recycling awareness activities and events, provide consumers with information and opportunities to hold their own recycling events, virtually announce the winners of the 2011 Clear Choice Awards, and recognize “Friends of Glass.” Activity updates will be posed on the GPI website.
