GPI Becomes a Sponsor of Earth911.com
Call2Recycle and GPI bring rechargeable battery and glass recycling to the forefront on Earth911.com
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.—As expectations surrounding product stewardship and extended producer responsibility rise for businesses across the country, industry groups are enhancing their initiatives around recycling the valuable and reusable materials they produce.
Capitalizing on the effectiveness and reliability of the Earth911 Recycling Directory, the largest and most accurate in the nation, Call2Recycle®, the only free rechargeable battery and cell phone collection program in North America, and the Glass Packaging Institute (GPI), the trade association representing the North American glass container industry, became the most recent additions to a growing list of industry groups, companies and organizations looking to engage consumers on the topic of recycling and proper disposal through Earth911.
This platform, launched by Earth911 in late 2010, allows sponsors to have their own custom sections on relevant landing pages across Earth911.com, as well as regular communications with Earth911 readers through relevant stories and news. Call2Recycle will sponsor the Earth911 Rechargeable Batteries section, while GPI will sponsor the Glass section on the site. These partnerships provide relevant, timely and meaningful ways for both consumers and industry to interact through multimedia, social media, articles and more.
“We’ve diverted more than 60 million pounds of rechargeable batteries from landfills, but we’re constantly building awareness to capture even more batteries that are not being recycled,” said Dana Barka, senior manager, marketing communications for Call2Recycle. “Our partnership with Earth911 has enabled us to reach a broad audience of people who want to recycle, but may not always know where or how. Earth911’s battery recycling section will help educate readers about the importance and ease of rechargeable battery recycling.”
